Eggnog Waffles with Cranberry Compote

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 cup cornstarch 1 Tablespoon baking powder 2 Tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cups eggnog (See Note) 5 Tablespoons vegetable oil 2 large eggs 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/3 cup orange juice 2 teaspoons orange zest

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
