Tempura Egg

An interesting thing Annie and I picked up overseas was this recipe for a tempura poached egg. I’ve long been mystified by the poached egg, so naturally when I learned that this deep fried alternative existed I absolutely had to know how it was done. 

Fortunately for me the instructions are simple and straightforward.

 

 – Boil water

 – Putt egg in water

 – Wait 6 minutes

 – Remove egg from boiling water and place in ice bath for 1 minute

 – Carefully remove eggshell

 – Roll in tempura crumbs

 – deep fry for 30 seconds – 1 minute

 – season to taste

 

Play with the times to get your egg to the degree of runniness you prefer.
